I became involved with the Sockburn School Board of Trustees as at the time I had two grandsons attending the school and was aware that there was a shortage of people wanting to be part of the Board.

Since being elected I have enjoyed being part of the Board and working with the Principal and staff on the many and varied issues that school’s face today.

I took on the Chairpersons role several years ago and have enjoyed being part of the school governance team. I would urge all interested parents to be part of the board as you will get a great sense of the nature of the education system and you can be part of a tight knit board that can influence our children’s educational outcomes.

I work as the Operations Manager for an organisation called ParaFed Canterbury that provides sport and recreation opportunities for all people with a physical disability and I am based atBurwoodHospital.

I live in Halswell and have two adult sons and 5 grandchildren.
