*** GYMNASTICS ***
We started our gymnastics lessons today at Olympia Gymnasium...so much fun! The children had an absolute ball! There is so much amazing equipment that the children have access to...and fabulous coaches to teach us!
*** ANZAC Day - Sgt Major Holden visits ***
After learning about ANZAC Day, Room 12 was lucky enough to have Mr Holden come and visit us! He is a soldier in the NZ army. We got to go in the army truck, look and touch some medals, do some press ups and try his helmet on! We were even given a gift - a camo paint, sweat rag and lip balm...so we could all be soldiers!
*** Easter in Room 12 ***
Wow the Easter Bunny appeared in Room 12 today - we don't know when or how, but what a lovely chocolate surprise! No one saw him, but Thomas thinks he got a peek! Mrs Holden videoed Room 12's reaction to finding the easter eggs - so cool!

We received 20 free ukeleles at a new launch supplying ukeleles to low decile schools. Check out the celebs we got photos with! :)

*** Duffy Assembly ***
Wow - we have been waiting with huge anticipation and excitement to receive our Duffy books...and today the waiting was over! We had the well-travelled author John Bougen as our guest - who delighted us with amazing adventure stories about his travels.

*** St John's Visit ***
We had a fantastic visit from St Johns last week. We learned all about what to do in an emergency, what is an emergency and how to help people. It was interesting (and rather worrying) that our children did not know either their address or phone number! Room 12 will be doing some work on this next term - it would be great if parents could come onboard with this one!

*** Buddy Class ***
We love spending time with our Room 2 buddies! We try to meet up with our buddy class every fortnight. Some of the activities we like to do are: reading together, talking together, playing games together and making things! The children get along so well and it is fabulous to see and hear them getting along in the playground and outside of school as well!

*** Fundamental Sports Skills ***
Room 12 has been lucky to have two amazing coaches from the Hornby area teaching us fundamental sports skills in Rugby and Netball. This has been endorsed by Sports Canterbury. We have had Crystal and Sam come every Thursday afternoon to teach us essential skills - passing/throwing/catching and having fun!

*** GEOMETRY - in our playground! ***
We have been learning about different shapes! We are learning their names and attributes, as well as whether they are flat (2D) or solid (3D)...we are so very clever! We decided to go investigating in our playground....look how many different shapes we spotted!
